About 7,000 travelers have been stranded at Japan's Narita Airport after heavy rain disrupted train and bus service.

According to NHK, Narita Airport said as of 4 a.m. on the 14th, roughly 7,000 travelers remained inside the terminal. Many others were also waiting outside for taxis or for transportation service to resume.

Airport officials announced that the Narita Sky Access line, which had suspended operations that day, would resume service starting with the 5:30 a.m. train to Oshiage. The Keisei Main Line and JR lines, however, remained suspended.

As travelers were forced to stay at the airport for extended periods, officials opened areas normally restricted outside regular operating hours and distributed stockpiled water, food, and sleeping bags to those stranded.

Long lines formed at distribution points inside the terminal, with travelers picking up their water and food or laying out sleeping bags on the floor to rest.

On social media, Korean travelers stranded at the airport have also been sharing updates on the situation.

One traveler posted that relief supplies were being handed out between Terminal 2 and Terminal 3 at Narita Airport, including sleeping bags, water, and snacks, adding that they had extra supplies and would share them with any Koreans who hadn't received any yet.

Others shared updates on conditions across different terminals. One traveler said Terminal 3 was relatively less crowded, noting that Terminal 2 was so packed they couldn't even use the food court, but a Japanese local helped them move to Terminal 3 to eat.

Another traveler asked if anyone had information on conditions at Terminal 1, saying they were arriving at 10 a.m. and needed to travel to Tokyo by private car, and asked for the latest transportation updates.
