Two vessels belonging to Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) came under attack while transiting the Strait of Hormuz on the evening of the 13th (local time). The UAE government strongly condemned the attack, pointing to Iran as the party responsible, Reuters reported.

According to UAE state news agency WAM, ADNOC said the situation on site has been brought under control. No casualties were reported, but specific details about the type of vessels struck, their cargo, and the extent of damage were not disclosed.

This marks the second time an ADNOC-linked vessel has come under attack within the past week. In a statement, the UAE Foreign Ministry condemned Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) for committing acts of piracy targeting commercial vessels, arguing that using the Strait of Hormuz as a tool of economic pressure threatens global energy security and regional stability.

Iran's Foreign Ministry and the IRGC have not issued an official statement regarding the attack, but Iran has previously warned it could strike vessels transiting the strait that violate its guidelines or are linked to hostile states.

Amid the military conflict between the U.S., Israel, and Iran, disruptions to shipping continue in the Strait of Hormuz — a critical waterway through which about 20% of global oil and liquefied natural gas (LNG) shipments pass — while international shipping rates rise and security concerns persist.
