Naver announced on July 15 that 10 million users are currently utilizing its agentic search service, "AI Tab." The milestone is being evaluated as the result of successfully building a competitive AI service by combining Naver's service assets—including search, shopping, local, and content—with its proprietary AI technology.
By proving the potential of an action-oriented AI agent that goes beyond conversational search to actual execution, AI Tab is rapidly becoming a part of daily life. As a natural extension of the traditional search experience, AI Tab holds significant meaning in that it has established a foundation for any domestic user to easily and familiarly utilize a new, AI-centered conversational search.
This achievement was made possible by Naver's search technology and infrastructure accumulated over more than 20 years, alongside its massive content ecosystem of blogs and cafes. Unlike other conversational AI services, AI Tab naturally connects information retrieval to real-world actions like purchases and reservations. It also reflects the specific context of domestic users in detail, offering a search experience differentiated from global general-purpose AI models.
According to Naver, since the official launch of AI Tab, the daily average number of queries has increased sevenfold compared to the beta service, and the number of queries per user has grown by 1.7 times. Additionally, the share of multi-turn conversations—where users continue with follow-up questions instead of stopping at one-off queries—has expanded. Furthermore, in everyday searches such as searching for electronics, comparing household goods, and getting fashion recommendations, AI Tab provides tailored recommendations by comprehensively leveraging actual purchase data, shopping reviews, and various user-generated content (UGC), reducing the time from search to decision-making by up to 60 to 70%.
Naver plans to sophisticatedly develop the service by continuously expanding action-centric AI agent features to help more users utilize AI Tab in their daily lives.
On July 15, a new chat window leading to AI Tab will be added to the bottom of the AI Briefing service, which is used by over 30 million people monthly. Users can check core summaries in AI Briefing and then continue with follow-up questions and in-depth exploration in AI Tab. Additionally, Naver will enhance the image-based search experience within this month by strengthening the integration among Smart Lens, AI Briefing, and AI Tab. When a user takes a photo of a product or uploads an image using Smart Lens, they can check key information in AI Briefing and seamlessly move to AI Tab for follow-up questions and product purchases.
Following this, in August, Naver will unveil a property-finding agent linked with Naver Real Estate, alongside an AI agent specialized for the Whale browser. The real estate agent will comprehensively utilize Naver Pay Real Estate data, user-linked asset information, and UGC to recommend tailored properties, while also providing actual resident reviews and property analysis. On the Whale browser, users can run the agent from the sidebar to support overall web navigation, including summarizing web pages and retrieving browsing history.
By the end of the year, Naver also plans to introduce a health agent that provides customized health information based on verified sources. In addition to delivering highly reliable answers based on authoritative medical information, it will offer a tailored health management experience by linking with Naver services, such as real-experience information from Naver Cafes and searches for hospitals and nutritional supplements.
"Through 'AI Tab,' Naver will deliver a tailored search experience for domestic users that is clearly distinguished from various conversational AI services both at home and abroad," said Kim Kwang-hyun, Chief Data Officer (CDO) of Naver. "We will advance it into the most outstanding service in terms of reliability, making it an indispensable AI service in users' daily lives."
