President Lee Jae-myung will preside over the second round of ministry policy briefings involving public participation, starting July 15 at the Cheong Wa Dae guesthouse.

For these briefings, a public participation panel of 200 citizens will attend the venue in person to listen to the ministerial reports alongside the president and directly raise questions and proposals.

"Starting July 15, President Lee will host the second round of ministry policy briefings under the slogan 'An Irreplaceable Republic of Korea Felt Through Daily Life,'" Cheong Wa Dae announced on July 14.

The briefings will cover 19 ministries, 6 agencies, 18 administrations, and 7 committees, including the Office for Government Policy Coordination, along with 140 public institutions.

The opening session will take place on July 15. On this day, President Lee is scheduled to receive a 10-minute briefing from the Ministry of Finance and Economy, the Ministry of Planning and Budget, the Financial Services Commission, the National Data Agency, the National Tax Service, the Korea Customs Service, and the Public Procurement Service.

On July 16, briefings will continue with the Ministry of Science and ICT, the Broadcast Media and Communications Commission, the Personal Information Protection Commission, the Korea AeroSpace Administration, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs, the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries, the Ministry of Health and Welfare, the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety, the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family, and the Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission.

Reports from the remaining ministries are slated to take place early next month.

The defining characteristic of this round of briefings is the inclusion of the public participation panel.

According to Cheong Wa Dae, a total of 1,259 individuals applied for the panel between July 1 and July 6, excluding duplicate applications, registering a competition rate of approximately 63 to 1.

Cheong Wa Dae plans to select roughly 200 citizens to attend each session in person, comprehensively factoring in age, gender, and areas of interest.

The public participation panel will receive the ministerial briefings alongside the president and will be free to ask questions and offer recommendations from a boots-on-the-ground perspective.

The briefing venue will be decorated using imagery of Gwanghwamun—the iconic face of South Korea—paired with representations of the country's four seasons across different times of day to symbolize the daily lives of its citizens.
