OpenAI has launched a specialized service for professional tasks, named "ChatGPT Work." Moving beyond simple question-and-answer routines, the company is targeting the enterprise AI market by expanding functionalities to execute actual business operations, including document drafting, data analysis, and presentation creation.
On July 10, OpenAI announced the unveiling of ChatGPT Work, built upon its latest AI models, GPT-5.6 and Codex. ChatGPT Work can aggregate information across various applications and files to generate final deliverables—such as text documents, spreadsheets, presentations, and web applications—and is capable of handling repetitive tasks as well as long-term projects.
Through plugins, ChatGPT Work integrates seamlessly with an array of business tools, including Slack, Microsoft Teams, Google Drive, Microsoft SharePoint, email clients, calendars, and customer relationship management (CRM) software. A defining feature is its ability to retrieve necessary information and carry out tasks while fully reflecting the professional context.
With the scheduled tasks feature, users can automate repetitive operations according to set timetables, while the sites feature allows them to transform documents or concepts into websites or web applications for easy sharing.
Furthermore, a built-in browser and "computer-use" capability have been added to the desktop application. This allows the AI to directly perform computer tasks on behalf of the user, such as navigating websites, transferring files, and editing documents.
ChatGPT Work is being rolled out sequentially starting today for Pro, Enterprise, and Edu subscribers, with plans to expand availability to Plus and Business tiers in the future.
