Ukraine launched a massive swarm of more than 400 drones targeting the Russian capital of Moscow on July 7 (local time), AFP News reported.
"From the evening of July 6 to the morning of July 7, more than 430 drones flew toward the Moscow region," Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin announced on the day. "The vast majority of them were shot down at a long distance."
He added, "Among them, 36 drones were destroyed by Russian air defense systems as they approached Moscow."
While major facilities within Moscow avoided significant damage, minor damage was reported in some areas due to falling drone debris.
In other developments, a Ukrainian missile strike resulted in the death of one civilian in the Belgorod region, a southwestern territory of Russia bordering Ukraine.
Meanwhile, a drone attack ignited a fire at an industrial facility in the Kaluga region, located southwest of Moscow.
The ongoing Russia-Ukraine war is projected to serve as a core agenda item at the two-day NATO summit commencing in Ankara, Turkey on July 7, according to AFP.
