Naver is providing customized information to users by delivering fast and accurate weather and safety updates.
Naver announced on July 3 that it has integrated and launched the "Naver Weather Safety" page, which provides continuous updates on natural disasters—such as typhoons, heavy rain, heatwaves, heavy snow, cold waves, and earthquakes—alongside special weather alerts.
The Safety page allows users to check safety information in a single location regardless of the disaster type. Moving away from the previous format of opening only during emergencies, the page will now operate continuously and automatically configure its display based on how a disaster unfolds.
Naver became the first in South Korea to offer forecast comparisons from four different meteorological providers—the Korea Meteorological Administration, AccuWeather, The Weather Channel, and Weathernews—and is providing a variety of weather insights, including a "Special Weather Alert Map" that allows users to intuitively check alert statuses nationwide. Alongside these features, the newly launched Safety page will help users verify disaster safety information with enhanced visibility.
At the very top of the new Safety page, an AI-powered "National Briefing" will be featured to briefly summarize current conditions nationwide and across major regions, indicating risk severity on a four-tier scale. By selecting the "National Briefing," users can access detailed inputs such as special weather alerts, disaster text messages, and the weather report chat, allowing them to quickly assess and prepare for ongoing situations.
Additionally, "Jebotok" (Report Chat), which Naver introduced in 2021, added public disaster safety information feeds last year—including special weather alerts and disaster text messages sent within the hour—cementing its place as an active weather-reporting community among users.
As of June, Jebotok has accumulated over 630,000 reports, receiving positive reviews as users share real-time weather conditions via text, photos, and videos. During the massive wildfire in Gyeongsangbuk-do in March last year, the channel saw brisk activity with approximately 54,000 reports, serving as a continuous disaster response channel during typhoons, heavy snow, and torrential rains.
"Naver will fulfill its responsibility as a public platform by rapidly and accurately delivering necessary information to users during urgent disaster situations," said Kim Hye-jin, Leader of Naver Weather Services. "Moving forward, we plan to expand our AI Safety Report, which analyzes and alerts risks at a neighborhood level, and continue providing user-customized weather information in step with rapid climate change."
