Hyundai Wia has published its '2026 Sustainability Report' containing ESG management achievements and mid-to-long-term implementation strategies centering on supply chain management, carbon neutrality, and safety and health.
Hyundai Wia announced on the 30th that it published the sustainability report to share ESG management targets and implementation status with stakeholders—including customers, partners, and shareholders. Contained in the report are ESG governance centering on the Transparent Management Committee, the sustainability management implementation framework, and major achievements.
Through a double materiality assessment, Hyundai Wia selected sustainable supply chain management, climate change response and greenhouse gas reduction, and workplace safety and health management as its three core issues. It is continuing partner enterprise ESG evaluations and improvement activities, and conducted ESG evaluations targeting 167 partner enterprises last year. It is also supporting the reinforcement of partner enterprise competitiveness through the operation of a mutual growth fund, technical support, and ESG education.
Climate change response achievements were also contained in the report. Hyundai Wia received approval for its greenhouse gas reduction targets from the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) this past May, and presented targets to reduce workplace direct and indirect emissions (Scope 1 and 2) by 36.5% by 2030 and supply chain emissions (Scope 3) by 31.8% by 2035.
Last year, the Scope 1 and 2 greenhouse gas emissions of domestic and overseas workplaces stood at 235,707 tCO₂eq, decreasing by 15.7% from the previous year, and energy usage also dropped by 3.8%. Targeting RE100 achievement by 2045, Hyundai Wia is pursuing a renewable energy transition, and its RE100 implementation rate recorded 14.9% based on last year.
In the safety and health field, it conducted 4,563 risk assessments and 80 improvement activities last year, and no serious disasters occurred. Experiential safety education targeting partner enterprises also expanded from 118 companies to 408 companies.
Based on the human rights management roadmap established last year, Hyundai Wia plans to build a human rights impact assessment framework starting this year and expand the scope of application to domestic and overseas workplaces. Based on these ESG activities, it acquired an integrated A+ from the Korea Institute of Corporate Governance and Sustainability (KCGS), an A in climate change response from CDP, and a Gold rating from EcoVadis.
A Hyundai Wia official stated, "Through the sustainability report, we transparently disclosed our ESG management will and achievements," adding, "We will grow into a sustainable enterprise together with stakeholders including partner enterprises, customers, and shareholders."
