Hyundai Motor and Kia announced on June 24 that they have established a cybersecurity working group within the Trilateral Executive Dialogue (TED) and hosted its inaugural seminar at the Hyundai Motor Group headquarters in Yangjae-dong, Seocho-gu, Seoul.
TED is a high-level policy seminar where prominent government and business leaders from South Korea, the United States, and Japan gather to explore multifaceted opportunities for democracy and shared prosperity, while discussing ways to expand comprehensive mutual interests in economic development and national security. This marks the first time a dedicated sub-group has been formed within TED to focus on a specific thematic area.
As the boundaries between virtual and physical spaces increasingly blur, cyberattacks have become more frequent and sophisticated. Furthermore, the widespread adoption of AI and IoT technologies has heightened the risk of security breaches cascading across interconnected corporate supply chains.
Against this backdrop, Hyundai Motor and Kia spearheaded the formation of this sub-group for TED member companies representing various countries and industries. Moving forward, the working group plans to regularly share security trends, operational expertise, and best practices to enable a coordinated global response against cyber threats.
The seminar brought together representatives from participating member companies along with faculty members from prestigious domestic universities. Attendees shared the latest developments in cybersecurity and strategic case studies, followed by an expert panel discussion centered on security in the era of AI.
"As global supply chain connectivity deepens, transborder coordination on cybersecurity has become absolutely indispensable," a Hyundai Motor Group official stated.
