Hankook Tire announced on June 23 that the "2026 Lianxin Sanya E-Prix," a race in Season 12 of Formula E sponsored by the company, had successfully concluded.

The event featured Hankook Tire's official Formula E electric vehicle racing tire, the "iON Race."

The circuit spanned a total length of 2.52 kilometers and consisted of 12 corners. Designed with an open flow featuring two long straights that pass over bridges along with an early corner section, the track prompted fierce overtaking battles right from the start. Combined with Hainan's characteristically hot and humid climate, the tires' thermal management and ability to maintain grip served as critical factors.

The product is a racing tire optimized for the "GEN3 Evo," a next-generation electric racing machine capable of hitting a top speed of 322 km/h and a 0-100 km/h acceleration time of 1.86 seconds. It delivers reliable performance based on its exceptional grip and heat resistance even under extreme driving environments.

Additionally, the implementation of specialized engineering fibers and natural rubber-based composite materials allowed the tire to maintain superior steering response and driving stability during heavy braking and sharp cornering following the high-speed straightaways.

Jake Dennis of the Andretti Formula E team claimed victory in the race. Rounds 12 and 13 will continue next month on July 4 and 5 as a double-header in Shanghai, China. The Shanghai International Circuit is a track that mixes sharp corners with long, high-speed straights.

"We are strengthening our technological competitiveness by exclusively supplying racing tires to top-tier global motorsports championships, including Formula E and the FIA World Rally Championship," a Hankook Tire official stated. "The driving data accumulated on the extreme racing stage is integrated with our advanced R&D infrastructure to fuel the innovative technology behind 'iON,' our dedicated EV tire brand."
