HanmiGlobal, a company specializing in project management (PM), created a platform to explore future growth strategies for global PM in celebration of its 30th anniversary.
On the 22nd, HanmiGlobal announced that it held the "Global PM Summit 2026" on June 19 at the POSCO Center Art Hall in Gangnam-gu, Seoul.
Under the theme "Rewriting the Future of Global PM in the AI Era," the event aimed to share ways to utilize next-generation technologies—such as AI, Building Information Modeling (BIM), digital twins, and robotics—at a time when the construction industry faces structural challenges including stagnant productivity, aging workforces, rising construction costs, and increasing project complexity. Executives from global PM firms and construction AI experts from Germany and Israel attended to introduce the latest technological trends and application cases.
In his keynote address, David Wysoll, Chief Operating Officer (COO) of Turner & Townsend, projected that AI would automate a significant portion of PM tasks. He emphasized that AI would ultimately enhance professional expertise and support data-driven decision-making rather than replace human personnel. Identifying real estate, infrastructure, and energy as core growth pillars, he also introduced strategies to expand high-value-added services through project data integration.
André Borrmann, Director of the Center for Construction AI at the Technical University of Munich (TUM) in Germany, presented cases on the convergence of BIM, AI, and robotics. Introducing AI technology that generates BIM models purely through text prompts alongside on-site image analysis technology, he explained that the scope of AI utilization is rapidly expanding across the entire lifecycle of construction projects.
Rafael Sacks, Director of the National Building Research Institute at the Technion - Israel Institute of Technology, predicted that AI would transcend being a mere tool for operational efficiency and transform the business models of project management itself. He anticipated that digital twin-based remote integrated management systems would become a core competitive advantage for PM firms in the future.
Following the presentations, a panel discussion was held, chaired by Professor Lee Kang of Yonsei University. The panel, which included Professor Ahn Chang-bum of Seoul National University, HanmiGlobal Senior Vice President Jeong Bu-yeong, POSCO E&C Managing Director Lee Keun-hyung, and the overseas speakers, discussed the industry's response strategies, focusing on the changing role of PM in the AI era, data assetization, industrial standardization, measuring ROI on AI investments, and accountability in decision-making.
On the same day, HanmiGlobal also signed Memorandums of Understanding (MOUs) with both the TUM Center for Construction AI and the Technion National Building Research Institute. The company plans to accelerate AI-driven innovation in project management by pursuing joint research, technological exchanges, and expanding its global research network with both institutions.
