OpenAI is supplying ChatGPT Enterprise and Codex to Samsung Electronics, marking one of its largest global enterprise deployment deals to date.

On the 22nd, OpenAI announced that Samsung Electronics is adopting ChatGPT Enterprise and Codex to drive employee workplace innovation and company-wide AI transformation. Under this agreement, all Samsung Electronics employees in South Korea, along with Device eXperience (DX) Division employees worldwide, will gain access to ChatGPT and Codex. OpenAI evaluated this as a benchmark case for expanding its enterprise business.

Samsung Electronics plans to apply AI across a diverse range of business areas, including software development, marketing, product development, manufacturing, and management support. Employees will utilize ChatGPT for information retrieval and analysis, document drafting, data interpretation, and ideation, while receiving support for software development and task automation through Codex.

OpenAI also emphasized security and management features tailored for corporate environments. ChatGPT Enterprise offers data protection, access control, and security monitoring functions, enabling corporations to utilize AI in alignment with internal security policies and governance frameworks.

"This adoption is highly significant in that Samsung Electronics is utilizing AI not merely as a workplace tool for select teams, but as a core platform to elevate the working methods and innovation capabilities of its entire global workforce," said Kim Kyoung-hoon, General Manager of OpenAI Korea. "OpenAI will actively support Samsung Electronics employees so they can execute ideas faster and solve complex problems."

OpenAI is also expanding its scope of cooperation with Samsung Electronics. The two companies previously initiated collaboration in the memory semiconductor sector required for building next-generation AI infrastructure, and with this agreement, they have broadened their partnership to encompass employee workplace innovation and enterprise-wide AI transformation.

OpenAI has been rapidly expanding its corporate and institutional client base in South Korea recently. Seoul National University introduced ChatGPT Edu for its 47,000 students and faculty members, and Kakao is offering ChatGPT services through KakaoTalk. In addition, various enterprises, including LG Electronics, LG Uplus, LG CNS, Samsung SDS, KRAFTON, Toss, Musinsa, and Korea Zinc, are utilizing ChatGPT Enterprise and OpenAI APIs.
