Hanwha participated in the Shangri-La Dialogue, Asia's premier security summit, to discuss expanding artificial intelligence (AI)-driven defense cooperation with key foreign governments—including the United States and the United Kingdom—and global defense contractors. The company plans to leverage its integrated defense capabilities, which blend AI with advanced technologies, to broaden international security partnerships and export opportunities.
On June 1, Hanwha announced its participation in the 23rd IISS Asian Security Summit (Shangri-La Dialogue), which took place in Singapore from May 29 to 31.
The Shangri-La Dialogue stands as the region's largest multilateral security forum, convening defense ministers, high-ranking military officials, and security experts from across the Asia-Pacific.
During the summit, Hanwha conducted a series of bilateral meetings with senior government officials from major nations, including the U.S. and the UK. The company also engaged in high-level talks with leading global defense contractors to explore avenues for cooperation in AI and cutting-edge technologies, as well as shared defense capabilities.
At this year's forum, the South Korean government articulated its policy stance of strengthening self-reliant national defense through advanced technologies—such as AI-based sensor-to-shooter strike systems, manned-unmanned teaming (MUM-T) frameworks, and cyber and space capabilities—while simultaneously pursuing multidimensional security cooperation with the international community.
Building upon its established defense expertise across the land and maritime domains, combined with AI and advanced technologies, Hanwha intends to support security cooperation within the Indo-Pacific region while scaling up defense and technological partnerships with allied nations.
A Hanwha representative remarked, "The forum provided an invaluable venue to directly engage with key foreign governments and global defense contractors to map out the future of AI and advanced tech cooperation," adding, "We will deploy our integrated land, sea, air, and space defense capabilities to bolster both the defense of the Korean Peninsula and the military readiness of our allies."
