GS Caltex announced on May 29 that it will jointly carry out the 2026 GS Caltex Public-Private Energy Efficiency Improvement Program, now in its fourth year, with the Korea Energy Foundation to improve housing conditions and energy welfare for energy-vulnerable households.
The initiative is a representative public-private energy welfare model that combines GS Caltex’s donations with the foundation’s government-funded Energy Efficiency Improvement Program for Low-Income Households, maximizing both the scale and effectiveness of support.
Since signing an agreement with the Korea Energy Foundation in 2023, GS Caltex has committed a total of 10 billion won over five years. The program entered its fourth year in 2026.
This year’s project will support 1,200 low-income households nationwide and one social welfare facility. Major improvements include wall and ceiling insulation, replacement of aging windows, floor heating pipe construction, and installation of high-efficiency boilers to fundamentally improve residential energy efficiency.
According to an analysis of the 2025 program results, participating households achieved an average heating energy reduction rate of 25.2%, demonstrating meaningful savings in energy costs.
Applications can be submitted through local municipal governments. Eligible beneficiaries will be selected following qualification reviews and on-site inspections conducted through the Korea Energy Foundation’s project management system.
A GS Caltex official said, “We hope this energy efficiency improvement project will provide practical assistance to vulnerable households facing rising housing costs due to increases in raw material and energy prices amid recent instability in the Middle East. We will continue expanding social contribution programs that not only enhance energy welfare for low-income households but also contribute to national energy-saving efforts.”
