LS Electric is accelerating its push into the North American power infrastructure market after winning a large-scale supply contract for a U.S. big-tech company’s data center project.
The company announced on May 18 that it had signed a contract worth approximately $70 million, or about 105 billion won, to supply power distribution equipment for a data center operated by a major technology company in the United States.
Under the agreement, LS Electric will provide key data center power devices, including vacuum circuit breakers (VCBs). The company said the deal demonstrates recognition of its technological capabilities and project execution capacity, as it met the strict quality and delivery standards demanded by global big-tech firms.
VCBs are critical protection devices used in high-voltage power distribution systems. They immediately cut off electrical circuits in the event of short circuits or overcurrent to prevent equipment damage and fires.
In hyperscale data centers, VCBs are considered essential infrastructure for protecting servers and valuable data assets while ensuring uninterrupted operations.
Demand for data center construction in North America has been rising rapidly due to the expansion of generative artificial intelligence services and increased investment in cloud infrastructure.
As a result, the market for high-end power equipment for data centers — where uninterrupted operation and high availability are critical — is also growing quickly.
Industry analysts describe the data center power equipment sector as a high-barrier market where long-term operational reliability and proven safety records matter more than simple price competition.
Global big-tech companies are known to place significant emphasis on stability and supply track records when selecting infrastructure suppliers for data center projects.
LS Electric said it plans to strengthen localized power solutions and expand aggressive marketing efforts in North America to increase market share.
“This contract reflects recognition of both our technological capabilities and brand reliability in the North American market,” an LS Electric official said. “Based on a series of recent large-scale project wins, we will continue strengthening our leadership in the global power infrastructure market.”
