HanmiGlobal said Sunday that it has signed a strategic alliance agreement with Canadian engineering company AtkinsRéalis to jointly pursue industrial plant, renewable energy and nuclear power projects in the United States.

AtkinsRéalis, headquartered in Canada, is a global engineering and nuclear specialist with more than 40,000 employees operating across over 50 countries. Its U.S. division runs more than 90 offices across 32 states and has participated in a wide range of projects involving airports, roads, nuclear facilities and industrial plants, including maintenance work at San Francisco International Airport.

Under the agreement, the two companies will cooperate closely throughout the entire project process, from project discovery and proposal development to contract acquisition and execution.

The partnership will cover project management, design and engineering, design reviews and local licensing and permitting consulting. Depending on the project, the companies plan to coordinate lead and participating roles to provide integrated construction engineering services tailored to client needs.

As an initial priority, the companies will jointly target large-scale energy projects in the United States, including production facility construction projects led by Korean companies, as well as nuclear power and renewable energy complex developments.

The two sides also plan to establish a working-level consultative body to develop project-specific cooperation measures and continue regular information exchanges to identify promising new projects in the U.S. market.

Kim Yong-sik said the company aims to contribute to the successful execution of related projects by leveraging its project management capabilities and network in the U.S. construction market.

“In addition to U.S. nuclear power projects, if Korean investment in the United States accelerates following Korea-U.S. trade negotiations, we will work to support the successful implementation of those projects,” Kim said.
