The approval rating of Lee Jae-myung has dropped into the 50% range for the first time in two months, according to a new poll released on May 4.
A survey conducted by Realmeter, commissioned by Energy Economic News, showed that 59.5% of respondents positively evaluated Lee’s job performance. The poll was conducted from April 27 to 30 among 2,006 adults aged 18 and older nationwide.
The figure marks a 2.7 percentage point decline from the previous survey and ends a seven-week streak of approval ratings above 60%, which began in the second week of March.
Negative evaluations rose by 1.6 percentage points to 35.0%, while 5.5% of respondents said they were unsure.
In a separate party approval poll conducted from April 29 to 30 among 1,006 respondents, the Democratic Party of Korea recorded 48.6%, down 2.7 percentage points from the previous week, returning to the 40% range after four weeks.
Meanwhile, the People Power Party saw its support rise by 0.9 percentage points to 31.6%. Other parties recorded lower levels of support, including the Rebuilding Korea Party at 4.0%, the New Reform Party at 2.6%, and the Progressive Party at 2.2%.
