Lee Jae-myung reaffirmed his commitment to eradicating real estate speculation, emphasizing the need to normalize taxation, financial systems, and regulations to achieve a “zero speculation” goal.

On April 12, Lee shared a news report on social media platform X addressing tighter loan regulations for single-home owners, stating, “Achieving zero real estate speculation through normalization of taxes, finance, and regulations is entirely possible and must be done.”

He added that strengthening productive financial practices is inevitable, criticizing speculative behavior by saying, “When people make money through real estate speculation using others’ money, it undermines the motivation of those who work hard.”

The report Lee referenced outlined potential measures under review by the government, including a principle-based ban on new jeonse loan guarantees for single-home owners and restrictions on extending existing loan maturities.

The remarks signal the administration’s intent to implement stricter controls on housing-related lending as part of broader efforts to curb speculative demand in the property market.
