Lee Jae-myung and First Lady Kim Hye-kyung visited Dongmun Market in Jeju on March 30, meeting citizens and vendors in a warm and friendly atmosphere.

According to a written briefing by the Presidential Office, the visit took place after the president concluded a town hall meeting in Jeju, marking the final schedule of his two-day trip to the island.

Vendors and visitors welcomed the couple with applause and cheers, with many asking for selfies and handshakes. The president also responded warmly to children, stopping whenever he heard “There’s a child here,” offering high-fives and taking photos with them.

During the visit, the couple stopped by a fruit mochi shop, where they purchased hallabong and strawberry mochi using traditional market vouchers. They shared the treats with aides accompanying them, including a senior AI advisor.

They also bought various local products such as ommegi rice cakes, zucchini, garlic stems, hairtail fish, and salted mackerel.

At a store selling kimchi and fermented seafood, the first lady purchased pickled chili peppers. The president reportedly called her “dear” and asked her to also buy young napa cabbage kimchi nearby.

At a fish shop, after hearing that the owner’s child is expecting a baby in June, the president congratulated the family and purchased dried Jeju tilefish.
