Jung Cheong-rae said on March 30 that the Ssangbangwool North Korea remittance case related to President Lee Jae-myung had been “completely fabricated,” claiming that earlier suspicions had now been confirmed as truth.
Speaking at a Supreme Council meeting at the National Assembly, Jung said, “The suspicion that the Ssangbangwool remittance case was fabricated from beginning to end has now been verified as truth,” adding that criticism of the prosecution during the previous administration had proven justified.
He further argued that prosecutors involved should be removed from the system, saying, “We have seen the true face of the prosecution.”
Jung also stressed the need for swift action on a supplementary budget to stabilize the economy amid the prolonged Middle East conflict.
“With the Middle East war continuing for over a month, the public is facing a triple crisis. Extraordinary measures are urgently needed,” he said. “Once the government submits the ‘war budget’ proposal tomorrow, we will immediately begin deliberations and aim to pass it at the April 10 plenary session.”
He called on the opposition to cooperate, stating that “there is no ruling or opposition party when it comes to people’s livelihoods,” and urged the People Power Party to support the budget.
Jung also encouraged lawmakers to participate in energy-saving efforts, urging them to follow a vehicle rotation system. He noted that he personally used public transportation to commute to the National Assembly in line with the government’s energy conservation policies.
