| BTS Comeback Live: ARIRANG, streamed live on Netflix, drew 18.4 million viewers worldwide on its broadcast day. |
Netflix announced that BTS Comeback Live: ARIRANG attracted 18.4 million viewers worldwide on the day of its live broadcast on March 21.
The event, which marked Netflix’s first-ever live broadcast in South Korea, ranked in the weekly Top 10 across 80 countries and reached No. 1 in 24 countries.
Streaming live globally, the performance connected audiences around the world in real time. Netflix deployed its proprietary Open Connect content delivery network, along with advanced technologies such as load balancing, multi-encoder auto switching, and a live-optimized encoding pipeline to ensure high-quality streaming.
The large-scale production involved staff from 10 countries collaborating in eight different languages. A total of 23 cameras, 124 broadcast monitors, and 164.5 tons of equipment were used. The venue was powered by approximately 9.5 kilometers of electrical cables and 9,660 kVA of electricity.
Additionally, the production processed 40 terabytes of server capacity and 108 terabytes of video data, highlighting the scale of the live broadcast operation.
A Netflix official said, “Netflix has contributed to the global expansion of Korean culture through K-dramas and films. This event marks a step forward in bringing K-pop to global audiences alongside BTS, and we will continue to promote Korean content worldwide across various formats and genres.”
The performance is now available for streaming on Netflix, offering enhanced viewing with Dolby Vision for vivid visuals and Dolby Atmos for immersive sound. Subtitles are provided in more than 34 languages, along with audio descriptions in Korean and English and subtitles for the hearing impaired.
