Accessories designed by Hwang Yi-seul of hanbok brand Leesle were worn by BTS during the “Spotify x BTS: Swimside” event.

Korean fashion designer Hwang Yi-seul drew attention after her creations were featured in BTS’s stage outfits at the “Spotify x BTS: Swimside” event.

Hwang, who runs the hanbok brand Leesle, revealed on social media that Korean-style accessories were incorporated into BTS’s performance costumes.

According to the designer, BTS took the stage wearing Western-style outfits enhanced with traditional Korean elements. She said, “It was impressive to see how Korean styling was added to a Western look, capturing cultural roots.”

The collaboration was initiated at the request of BTS. Hwang recalled, “The moment I saw the proposal email, I was thrilled, but I tried to stay calm as a professional.”

Despite tight deadlines and an initial request to use existing items, she created nine new accessory pieces on short notice. Some of these were used on stage, including a belt worn by j-hope.

She also noted that some accessories were produced in collaboration with a preliminary social enterprise, adding social value to the project.

“I’m still trembling as I write this,” Hwang said. “It is a great honor that my creations were part of BTS’s first global stage after their comeback in four years.”

BTS recently resumed full-group activities after a hiatus of about three years and nine months, drawing global attention.
