The Korean romance film Once We Were Us has surpassed the box-office record set by Decision to Leave, reaching the milestone of 2 million admissions.

According to the Korea Film Council on Jan. 26, Once We Were Us added 96,269 viewers in a single day, bringing its cumulative audience to 2,001,234 since its release on Dec. 31 last year.

With this achievement, the film has exceeded the performance of Decision to Leave, which attracted 1.91 million moviegoers following its release in 2022 and was directed by Park Chan-wook. Among romance films released since 2019, Once We Were Us now ranks second in total admissions, behind Love Reset, which drew 2.92 million viewers.

Directed by former actor Kim Do-young, Once We Were Us also topped the weekend box office for the third consecutive week, drawing 254,300 viewers between Jan. 23 and 25.

The film follows the story of Eun-ho, played by Koo Kyo-hwan, and Jung-won, portrayed by Moon Ga-young, former lovers who reunite after 10 years and reflect on their past relationship.

Meanwhile, the crime drama Project Y, starring Han So-hee and Jeon Jong-seo, debuted at No. 4 at the weekend box office, drawing 59,817 viewers. It trailed God’s Orchestra with 155,282 admissions and Avatar: Fire and Ash with 115,640.
