“The most advanced humanoid robot.” Hyundai Motor Group’s Atlas is drawing sustained global acclaim following its showcase at CES 2026, as major international media spotlight the company’s robotics and physical AI strategy.

According to industry sources on January 18, overseas outlets assessed Atlas not as a mere demonstration unit, but as a humanoid designed with real industrial deployment in mind.

Earlier this month, robotics subsidiary Boston Dynamics unveiled the humanoid robot Atlas at CES 2026, prompting broad coverage that highlighted Hyundai Motor Group’s physical AI–based technology roadmap.

The Associated Press reported that Boston Dynamics “introduced the humanoid robot Atlas to the public for the first time,” adding that Hyundai Motor Group has “stepped up the race to build robots that look like people and work in place of people.” The outlet described Atlas rising on two legs from the floor, walking smoothly across the stage for several minutes, occasionally waving to the audience and turning its head “like an owl.”

AP noted that even leading robot makers rarely conduct public humanoid demonstrations due to the risk of errors, calling Atlas’s performance “exceptional,” with no visible mistakes or shortcomings.

The The Guardian highlighted Atlas among CES 2026’s key robotics technologies, pointing to features such as waterproof design and automatic battery swapping, and said extensive testing has elevated the robot to near product-level maturity.

French broadcaster Euronews analyzed the live demonstration as evidence that Atlas has moved beyond the prototype stage. The outlet emphasized Hyundai Motor Group’s goal of reducing human physical labor and laying the groundwork for human–robot collaboration through Atlas.

Automotive and technology media also weighed in positively. U.S. auto magazine Autoweek examined Hyundai Motor Group’s mid- to long-term strategy, citing three core pillars: promoting collaboration between robots and humans, integrating Boston Dynamics into a global manufacturing ecosystem, and forming partnerships with leading AI companies.
