Minister of Oceans and Fisheries Jeon Jae-soo on Tuesday flatly denied allegations that he received cash or luxury goods from the Unification Church, calling the claims entirely unfounded.

In a statement posted on his social media account, Jeon wrote, “The bribery allegations raised against me are completely false. Not a single part of them is true.” He accused those spreading the claims of “fabricating baseless testimony to make it appear factual,” calling the act “a grave and criminal attempt that directly undermines my honor and the public trust placed in my office.”

Jeon added that he intends to pursue all possible legal measures without exception. “There will be no leniency regarding false reporting or malicious distortions,” he said.

Earlier in the day, JTBC reported that Jeon’s name appears in an investigative report prepared by the special counsel team probing First Lady Kim Keon-hee. According to the report, former Unification Church world headquarters director Yoon Young-ho claimed he delivered to Jeon, between 2018 and 2020, a box containing 30 to 40 million won in cash as well as two luxury watches.

Jeon has categorically rejected the account as fabricated.
