JYP Entertainment and its flagship group Stray Kids have donated to support recovery efforts following the deadly apartment fire in Hong Kong.
JYP said on November 28 that it contributed 2 million Hong Kong dollars (about 377 million won) through World Vision Hong Kong. The funds will be used for temporary housing and psychological support for affected children and residents.
“We extend our deepest condolences to everyone who lost loved ones and their homes,” the agency said.
Stray Kids also donated 1 million Hong Kong dollars (about 188 million won) the same day through World Vision Hong Kong. The group said, “We were heartbroken to hear the tragic news. We hope the victims and their families can return to their daily lives soon, and we pay tribute to all the heroes who risked their lives in the rescue efforts.”
Both donations were made through the official World Vision Hong Kong channels.
The blaze occurred on November 26 at Wong Fuk Court, a high-rise housing complex in Tai Po, causing mass casualties. Since the news broke, K-pop groups and agencies have been stepping forward with donations to support survivors and relief operations.
