South Korea and China held a new round of talks on November 25 to discuss the delimitation of their maritime boundary, with both sides exchanging a broad range of views on outstanding issues.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said it convened the 14th director-level Korea–China maritime boundary delimitation meeting in Incheon. The talks, launched in 2015 following a 2014 summit agreement between the two countries, aim to define the maritime boundary between the two neighbors.
The South Korean delegation was led by Hwang Jun-sik, Director-General for International Legal Affairs at the foreign ministry, and included officials from the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries, the Ministry of National Defense, the Korea Coast Guard, the Korea Hydrographic and Oceanographic Agency and the Korea Institute of Ocean Science and Technology.
China’s delegation was headed by Guo Yan, Director for East China Sea Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
According to the ministry, both sides agreed to continue efforts to deepen mutual understanding and maintain the momentum of the talks moving forward.
