President Lee Jae-myung arrived in Cairo late Wednesday after completing his official visit to the United Arab Emirates, beginning a tightly packed one-day schedule of summit diplomacy in Egypt.

On Thursday, Lee is set to attend an official welcoming ceremony before holding a summit with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi.

Marking the 30th anniversary of bilateral ties, the two leaders are expected to discuss expanding trade and strengthening cooperation in education and culture.

Following a series of memorandums of understanding signed with the UAE earlier this week, Seoul is anticipating similar outcomes in Cairo aimed at deepening strategic collaboration.

After the summit, Lee will deliver a speech at Cairo University, outlining his administration’s vision for engagement with the Middle East.

The address is expected to present a broader diplomatic framework for Korea’s partnerships across the region.

In the evening, the president plans to meet with members of the Korean community and representatives from Korean businesses operating in Egypt.

Once his compressed schedule concludes, Lee will depart on Friday for South Africa to attend the G20 Summit, again boarding Air Force One for the long-haul flight.
