President Lee Jae-myung emphasized the importance of international solidarity and cooperation in the face of multiple global crises during a special leaders’ banquet he hosted on October 29 at the Hilton Hotel in Gyeongju.

“Although the world is going through a complex crisis on many fronts, this is precisely the time when solidarity and cooperation among nations are most important,” Lee said in his welcoming remarks. “Since it has been difficult to gather like this, I hope we can share our insights and engage in open discussion.”

President Lee noted that most of the participating countries are U.S. allies or partners and highlighted the presence of U.S. President Donald Trump, saying, “It is especially meaningful that President Trump is here with us tonight.” He then invited Trump to deliver congratulatory remarks.

Trump responded by calling his summit with Lee “a successful and productive meeting,” adding, “We were able to make many important decisions.”

Acknowledging ongoing challenges, Trump added, “There are small clouds over Korea, but I believe they will all be resolved. I also know Kim Jong Un well, and I think this issue will be handled successfully.”
