President Lee Jae-myung’s approval rating has fallen slightly to 52.2%, according to a new survey released on Oct. 20.

The poll, conducted by Realmeter for Energy Economy News during the third week of October, showed a 1.3-percentage-point drop from the first week of the month.

Realmeter attributed the decline to several factors, including difficulties in South Korea–U.S. tariff negotiations, controversy over President Lee’s appearance on an entertainment program during a nationwide network outage, and delayed responses to the Cambodian kidnapping and detention incidents. The agency also noted that growing concerns about a rental housing shortage following the government’s latest real estate measures contributed to the dip.

Negative assessments rose 1.6 points to 44.9% in the same period.

The survey, conducted from Oct. 13 to 17 among 2,518 adults aged 18 and older nationwide, has a margin of error of ±2.0 percentage points at a 95% confidence level. Detailed results are available on the website of the National Election Survey Deliberation Commission.
