K-Pop Demon Hunters has become the most-watched Netflix title of all time, surpassing both Squid Game and Wednesday in cumulative viewing hours.
According to Netflix’s official site Tudum on Wednesday, the animated film reached 266 million views, overtaking the previous record holders: Squid Game Season 1 with 265.2 million and Wednesday Season 1 with 252.1 million. With the addition of viewing data from Aug. 25–31, the film claimed the top spot for the first time.
Netflix compiles rankings based on cumulative views over the first 91 days after release. Premiered on June 20, the film still has about two weeks left in the counting window, raising expectations for further records.
In the film category, K-Pop Demon Hunters also climbed to No. 1, beating Red Notice (2021), which had set a benchmark with 230.9 million views.
Blending K-pop culture with shamanistic themes, the Korean animated feature tells the story of idols battling demonic forces. As a Netflix original, it has achieved a rare global breakout success for the genre.
The film’s popularity has spilled over into theaters. On Aug. 23–24, sing-along screenings were held across the United States, topping the North American weekend box office. A sing-along version has also been released on Netflix, allowing fans worldwide to engage interactively.
