Foreign Minister Cho Hyun held his first phone call with Czech Foreign Minister Jan Lipavský on Wednesday and pledged continued cooperation to ensure the successful completion of the Dukovany nuclear power plant project.
According to the Foreign Ministry, Cho welcomed the signing of the final contract for the project, calling it “a turning point for advancing bilateral nuclear energy cooperation.”
Marking the 35th anniversary of diplomatic ties and the 10th anniversary of their strategic partnership this year, Cho praised the remarkable progress in bilateral relations and expressed hope that high-level exchanges would continue actively.
Lipavský said, “Korea is a trustworthy partner in nuclear energy cooperation,” and suggested that both sides maintain close consultations on the Dukovany project.
Cho added that Korea seeks to strengthen strategic cooperation with the Czech Republic not only in nuclear energy but also in advanced industries and innovation.
The two ministers also discussed regional affairs and shared views on the urgent need for peace and reconstruction in Ukraine.
