Stray Kids have achieved another milestone as their new full-length album Karma debuted at No. 1 on the U.S. Billboard 200 chart, marking the group’s seventh chart-topping album. It is the first time in Billboard history that a group has seen its first seven albums all reach No. 1.
According to Billboard’s preview released on August 31 (local time), Karma debuted atop the chart, surpassing the soundtrack album for Netflix’s K-pop Demon Hunters.
Starting with Oddinary in 2022, the group previously sent six albums—including Maxident, ATE, and Hop—to the top of the Billboard 200. With Karma, Stray Kids surpassed BTS, which held six No. 1s, to claim the record for most chart-toppers among K-pop groups.
The Billboard 200 ranks albums by combining traditional album sales, streaming equivalent albums (SEA), and track equivalent albums (TEA). During the charting week, Karma recorded 313,000 equivalent album units.
The album is Stray Kids’ first full-length release in more than two years and includes 11 tracks, led by the title song Ceremony. At a recent press conference, the members explained, “We poured our growth story into this album, showing how we’ve carved our own path without being shaken by outside criticism or internal conflict.”
Billboard noted, “Stray Kids became the first act in history to see their first six albums, including their debut entry Oddinary, all debut at No. 1 on the Billboard 200. With Karma, they have extended that unprecedented streak.”
