The original soundtrack (OST) of Netflix’s animated film K-pop Demon Hunters has remained at No. 2 on the U.S. Billboard 200 album chart for four consecutive weeks, Billboard reported on August 25.
The top spot was again claimed by country star Morgan Wallen’s I’m The Problem, which has reigned at No. 1 for 12 straight weeks.
The Billboard 200 ranks albums by combining physical sales, streaming-equivalent albums (SEA), and track-equivalent albums (TEA). The K-pop Demon Hunters OST earned 108,000 album units in the latest tally, up 3% from the previous week.
Since debuting at No. 8, the soundtrack has consistently stayed in the upper ranks: 8 → 3 → 2 → 5 → 3 → 2 → 2 → 2 → 2. It has never fallen outside the top 10 over nine weeks and has now accumulated five non-consecutive weeks in the No. 2 spot.
Billboard noted that it is rare for an OST to maintain a long run in the top 10. The last comparable example was the Fifty Shades of Grey soundtrack in 2015, which spent 14 weeks in the top 10. Moreover, this is the first soundtrack since Forrest Gump in 1994 to spend at least five weeks at No. 2 without reaching No. 1.
