Actor Park Bo-gum, newly appointed as Korea’s honorary tourism ambassador for 2025, is fronting a global promotional campaign to showcase the country’s attractions, including two newly released videos unveiled on July 29.

The Korea Tourism Organization (KTO) and the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism held an appointment ceremony at SJ Kunsthalle in Seoul, attended by around 160 people, including winners of a related event. During the event, two promotional videos featuring Park were premiered. Park also performed “On My Way,” the theme song for this year’s global tourism campaign, adding a personal touch to the fantasy-style short films that portray Korea through a traveler’s eyes.

To mark the video release, the KTO launched an interactive event on its YouTube channel “Imagine Your Korea.” Viewers who respond in the comments to Park’s question, “What song would you listen to while traveling in Korea?” will be entered to win prizes, including round-trip flights to Korea. The event runs through August 12.

The KTO will later release a “My Korea Travel Playlist” video at the end of August, featuring songs recommended by global viewers alongside Park’s picks.

A new Netflix-themed ad campaign was also revealed, including “Escape to Korea – Better Run,” inspired by the hit series Squid Game, and two region-focused videos: “Echoes of Korea – Where Energy Never Sleeps,” highlighting Gyeongsang Province’s vibrant energy through sword dance, and “Echoes of Korea – Where Beauty Moves Heart,” showcasing Jeolla Province’s lyrical beauty through traditional seungmu dance.

Park, who shared that he often uses Seoul’s bike-sharing service “Ddareungi,” recommended it as a unique way to explore Korea. “I hope more people discover Korea’s endless charm and see it as a destination they want to return to,” he said. “As honorary ambassador, I will do my best to promote Korean tourism.”
