President Lee Jae-myung officially appointed three new cabinet members on July 21: Jung Eun-kyeong as Minister of Health and Welfare, Kim Young-hoon as Minister of Employment and Labor, and Kim Sung-hwan as Minister of Environment.

Presidential spokesperson Kang Yoo-jung announced the appointments in a briefing the same day.

Earlier, the National Assembly adopted confirmation hearing reports for all three nominees. The Environment and Labor Committee passed the report for Kim Sung-hwan, a three-term lawmaker, with bipartisan support.

However, the reports for Kim Young-hoon and Jung Eun-kyeong were adopted solely by the Democratic Party of Korea amid opposition from the ruling People Power Party.
