The dinosaurs are holding their ground. Jurassic World: New Dawn held onto the No. 1 spot at the South Korean box office for a second consecutive weekend, outperforming the much-anticipated Superman reboot.

According to data released on July 14 by the Korean Film Council, Jurassic World: New Dawn drew 456,208 moviegoers from July 11 to 13. Since its release on July 2, the film has amassed a total of 1,736,025 admissions.

As a sequel to both the Jurassic Park (1993–2001) and Jurassic World (2015–2022) trilogies, the new installment has generated buzz with appearances by lead actress Scarlett Johansson in Korea, including a guest spot on the popular variety show You Quiz on the Block.

Meanwhile, Superman came in second in Korea over its debut weekend, attracting 397,607 viewers and reaching a cumulative total of 548,469 admissions since its release on July 9.

Directed by James Gunn—known for Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy series—the film marks a new chapter for DC Studios and introduces David Corenswet as the new Clark Kent. This is the seventh theatrical film to feature Superman as the sole lead.

Despite a lukewarm start in Korea, Superman made a powerful debut in North America. According to Box Office Mojo, the film grossed $122 million from 4,135 screens between July 11 and 13, topping the U.S. weekend box office. This makes it the first DC movie since Wonder Woman (2017) to open with over $100 million.

With a reported production budget of $225 million, Superman now ranks as the third-highest North American opener of 2025, following Minecraft: The Movie ($162.8 million) and Lilo & Stitch ($146 million). It also slightly outpaces Man of Steel (2013), which grossed $117 million in its opening weekend (unadjusted for inflation).

In third place in Korea was the horror-thriller Noise, starring Lee Sun-bin. The film added 313,657 viewers over the weekend, bringing its total to 1,183,710.

Brad Pitt’s racing blockbuster F1: The Movie came in fourth, drawing 44,535 moviegoers.
