President Lee Jae-myung’s approval rating has risen to 59.3%, according to a Realmeter poll released on June 23, with support peaking among voters in their 40s.
The survey, commissioned by Energy Economy News and conducted between June 16 and 20 on 2,514 adults nationwide, showed that 59.3% of respondents positively evaluated President Lee’s performance during his second week in office, up 0.7 percentage points from the previous week. Those who rated his performance negatively declined by 0.7 points to 33.5%.
By age group, support was strongest among respondents in their 40s at 73.3%, followed by those in their 50s (70.2%) and 30s (54.9%). Among those in their 20s, approval stood at 49.6%, making it the only group where support did not exceed 50%.
By region, support was highest in Gwangju and the Jeolla provinces at 78.9%, followed by Jeju (64.8%) and the Incheon–Gyeonggi area (62.3%). Every region except Daegu–North Gyeongsang (49.2%) showed a majority approval.
When asked about expectations for President Lee’s future performance, 60.5% of respondents said they believe he will do well, up 1.1 points from the prior week. The share of respondents who said he would not perform well dropped 0.6 points to 34.3%.
In a separate party approval poll conducted on June 19–20 among 1,008 adults, the ruling Democratic Party recorded 48.4%, down 1.5 percentage points from the previous survey. The opposition People Power Party rose 1.0 points to 31.4%, narrowing the gap between the two parties from 19.5 points to 17 points within a week.
The New Reform Party registered 4.9%, the Rebuilding Korea Party 2.9%, and the Progressive Party 1.6%.
Both surveys were conducted via 100% wireless automated response (ARS). The presidential approval rating poll had a margin of error of ±2.0 percentage points at a 95% confidence level, with a response rate of 6.2%. The party approval survey had a margin of ±3.1 points, with a 5.6% response rate.
