Jennie of BLACKPINK has won a legal battle against a man who falsely claimed to be her biological father and published a book making the claim. A South Korean court has ordered the book’s destruction and prohibited the defendant from making further public references to the singer.

According to a report by Woman Sense on June 18, the Uijeongbu District Court’s Goyang branch ruled on May 9 that the claim made by “Mr. A”—that he is Jennie’s father—is false. The court ordered both Mr. A and publishing company “Company B” to destroy all copies of the book in question.

The court also banned Mr. A from mentioning Jennie in any media, including broadcasts, press interviews, KakaoTalk profile photos, and posts on personal social media accounts.

However, the court did not impose a fine or authorize provisional enforcement, stating that the case centered on personal dignity rather than a property rights claim.

The controversy began when Mr. A published an AI-generated novel claiming Jennie as his daughter. The book’s cover and prologue featured Jennie’s name and logo, sparking widespread speculation online about her family background and fueling unfounded rumors.

Jennie, who had previously never publicly mentioned her father, issued an official statement through her agency OA Entertainment on September 6 last year, denouncing the claims as entirely false and warning of strong legal action against fake news and defamation.

Following through, Jennie’s side filed a civil lawsuit on December 24, 2024, seeking to ban distribution of the book. The suit, filed at the Goyang branch of the Uijeongbu District Court, reportedly requested damages of 200 million won (approximately $145,000).
