The presidential office announced on June 10 that President Lee Jae-myung’s pledged “Public Nomination System” will officially begin that day.

In a press briefing held at the presidential office in Yongsan, presidential spokesperson Kang Yoo-jung stated, “Starting today, we are launching the ‘Find the Real Worker Project’ for one week.”

“This project is a personnel recommendation system that directly supports the governance philosophy of a people-centered government,” Kang said. “We aim to actively utilize the collective intelligence of citizens to discover truly dedicated public servants who will work sincerely for the people.”

The nominations will be open for key posts appointed by the president, including ministers, vice ministers, and heads of public institutions.

According to the presidential office, anyone can submit a recommendation by leaving a message on the Public Nomination System website operated by the Ministry of Personnel Management, or by sending a message or letter to President Lee’s official social media accounts or open email.

Kang explained that “nominations received through the website will be systematically stored in a database. Recommended candidates will undergo vetting by the Office of Public Ethics and additional public scrutiny before formal appointment.”

She emphasized that “the Lee administration will fully open the doors of a people-powered government by actively discovering real talent through a transparent and fair recommendation system.”

During the briefing, Kang also shared that President Lee had reviewed preparations for the upcoming APEC Summit.

“On the afternoon of June 9, President Lee held a meeting with the APEC planning committee to review the current status of preparations for the 2025 APEC Leaders' Summit,” Kang said.

The APEC Summit is scheduled to take place in Gyeongju this coming October or November.
