Kim Moon-soo, presidential candidate of the People Power Party, will cast his early vote on May 29 in Incheon's Gyeyang District, the political stronghold of his rival, Democratic Party candidate Lee Jae-myung. Framing the move as the start of a dramatic political comeback, Kim is launching a campaign titled “Incheon Landing Operation: Prelude to a Great Reversal.”
According to the People Power Party’s central election committee on May 28, Kim’s schedule is designed to evoke the historical turning point of the Korean War—the Incheon Landing led by General MacArthur. Beginning early in the morning, Kim will meet with local media and present his vision for the future development of Incheon.
“The decision to vote early in Lee’s former constituency reflects our intent to initiate a reversal during the polling blackout period, starting from the heart of the Democratic stronghold,” the election committee stated. “It signals our determination to trigger a ‘golden cross’ in the final days.”
Kim’s itinerary includes a symbolic tribute at the MacArthur statue, campaign stops at Liberty Park and Bupyeong’s Culture Street, followed by visits to his political home turf—Siheung, Ansan, Uiwang, and Anyang—which are strategic strongholds for the People Power Party.
“The tide of the Korean War shifted with the Incheon landing, and likewise, this campaign blitz in Incheon will serve as the springboard for a major electoral reversal,” said a party spokesperson.
