Acting President and Prime Minister Han Duck-soo accepted the resignation of Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Choo Kyung-ho on May 1.

Choo tendered his resignation shortly after an impeachment motion against him was introduced during a plenary session of the National Assembly.

“I regret that I can no longer carry out my duties amid the grave internal and external economic conditions, and I sincerely apologize to the people,” Choo said.
