Hong Joon-pyo, who was eliminated from the People Power Party’s (PPP) primary race for the 21st presidential election, announced on April 29 that he will leave the party.

In a Facebook post around 4 p.m., Hong wrote, “Tomorrow, I intend to leave the People Power Party, the party I have been attached to for 30 years,” adding, “I no longer have a role in the party, and I no longer have a reason to remain in politics. I will begin a new chapter in life.”

He continued, “I hope to live in a world without conflict and strife. I sincerely thank all the party members who have supported me until now.”
