The People Power Party (PPP) will reveal its top four presidential contenders on April 22, following a two-day public opinion poll. The survey, conducted from April 21 to 22 by five polling firms, will determine which of the eight initial candidates advance to the second round of the primary.

Based on recent polling, Kim Moon-soo, Han Dong-hoon, Hong Joon-pyo, and Na Kyung-won are seen as the most likely to make the cut. While Na is closely trailed by Ahn Cheol-soo, an in-house survey commissioned by Asia Today showed Na leading Ahn by four percentage points (10% vs. 6%) among PPP supporters and independents.

The PPP primary rules stipulate that the first round be based entirely on public polling, excluding Democratic Party supporters to prevent strategic voting. The second round will be determined by a 50-50 split between public opinion and party member votes.

On the eve of the cutoff, candidates ramped up campaign activities. Na visited Daegu and emphasized her commitment to constitutional values and restoring the rule of law. Han toured the Gyeongbuk region, engaging with students and scientists. Kim unveiled a nationwide high-speed rail pledge in Seoul, positioning GTX as both a welfare and growth policy. Hong held a press event highlighting “productive welfare,” proposing to raise the retirement age and reform pensions.

The final two candidates will emerge from the second round unless one wins a majority outright. The PPP's national convention to select its nominee will be held on June 3.
