Film “Firefighters” crossed the 1 million viewer mark on Wednesday, just eight days after its release.
On Thursday, the Korean Film Council’s integrated ticketing system reported that “Firefighters” attracted 96,383 moviegoers on Wednesday, topping the Korean box office for three consecutive days. It drew 1,016,154 viewers in total since its release on Dec. 4.
Directed by Kwak Kyung-taek, “Firefighters” recounts the event of the 2001 Hongje-dong fire disaster. The film portrays the firefighters’ relentless efforts to extinguish fire and rescue survivors, despite operating in severely challenging conditions.
