It is time to see how far the technology of the world’s leading companies has come and what their visions are. This is the story of CES 2024, the largest consumer electronics and IT exhibition, which is set to take place soon. The hottest topic of the show is definitely “AI (artificial intelligence)” and “Mobility.” It will be time for global leaders to gauze the AI craze that will hit all industries in advance and devise strategies to combine them with convergence industries such as automobiles.
The tech show will be held in the U.S. city of Las Vegas from Jan. 9 to 12. It is expected to attract over 130,000 attendees and over 4,000 exhibitors from more than 150 countries and regions. This year’s theme is “All Together, All On,” emphasizing the idea that every companies and industries should solve human problems with innovative technologies.
The key is the convergence of AI in all industries. Leading global electronics and IT companies such as Google, Amazon, Microsoft, Nvidia, and Sony will participate in the event. The ideas of innovation that companies are competing to present are expected to bring about a major impact on the industry. Whenever innovative products were announced at the CES, companies in the same areas sought a change of ideas and created a convergence business that can create synergy in other sectors, leading to a change in human lifestyle.
The hero of the CES is no longer an electronics or IT company. The fact that the CEO of L’Oreal, a cosmetics company, has been selected as a keynote speaker for the first time in history is evidence. In South Korea, not only IT giants such as Samsung, SK and LG, but also traditional mechanical engineering companies such as Hyundai Motor and HD Hyundai and Doosan have been participating in the event for several years, and are expanding the size of their booths. Chung Ki-sun, vice chairman of HD Hyundai, will be one of the six keynote speakers.
In particular, the automotive industry, which is facing a transition period, has long used CES as a venue for technology competitions instead of “motor shows.” The CTA, the organizer of CES, picked “AI” and “mobility” as the hottest topic for businesses this year. What’s most noteworthy is Hyundai Motor Group, which has set up an exhibition hall the size of a soccer field. Its exhibition hall will showcase a wide range of new technologies, including self-driving cars, flying cars, and connected cars. In addition, BMW, Mercedes Benz, Honda, and Amazon Automotive will present future mobility directions.
