SM Entertainment claims ‘outside forces’ make irrational offers… EXO’s Baekyun, Xiumin, Chen terminate contracts

SM Entertainment has issued an official statement after EXO members Baekhyun, Xiumin, and Chen sent a notice of terminating their exclusive contracts with the agency.

“During this important time when we are making efforts into a new phase of SM Entertainment, we have confirmed outside forces approaching our agency artists, providing them with false information, false court documents, and irrational offers, such as convincing them that there would be no legal problems if the artists chose to sign contracts with other agencies while ignoring the agency’s exclusive contracts,” SM Entertainment said.

“Such outside forces are not only enticing our artists into violating their contracts, but they are using the artists they have made with to tap even more of our agency’s artists. Such attempts are clearly illegal,” the agency said. “We will pursue all possible legal action against them.”

Meanwhile, EXO members Baekhyun, Xiumin and Chen filed to terminate their exclusive contracts with SM Entertainment, claiming that the agency refused to present its artists with clear, transparent records of the artists’ earnings and payments.
