SM Entertainment has officially filed a lawsuit against Chinese advertisement companies and movie production companies who have hired former EXO members Kris and Luhan.
On July 31, SM Entertainment stated, "As the exclusive legal management company of EXO members Kris and Luhan, after officially filing a lawsuit in February 2015 against Luhan and the advertisement companies who hired him as an endorsement model for his illegal entertainment activities in China, SM Entertainment has now officially filled a lawsuit against Kris, and the advertisement companies and movie production companies who have hired Kris for his illegal entertainment activities in China. The lawsuit has been officially registered on July 30 at the Beijing court."
"Kris one-sidedly filed a lawsuit against the agency in May 2014 and left without notice. He has been illegally appearing in various movies, advertisements, event and awards ceremony using the recognition he achieved through EXO activities. These activities have infringed the legal rights of SM and the EXO members, and have caused serious problems as well as huge financial damage to the company and its domestic and foreign partners. This is not only an unethical move that has betrayed the trust of the company and the other members, but also abuse of the law."
"The exclusive contract signed between SM and Kris remains in effect until the final ruling is made by the court. All the commercial activities, advertisement endorsement activities, movie filming and other entertainment activities conducted during the period of the exclusive contract are clearly illegal acts that violate the contract, so the company will definitely hold him responsible for this. In addition, any individuals or companies that have supported his breach of contract are infringing on the rights and profits of SM and EXO. Therefore, the company will also hold them responsible and take legal action."
