South Korean national team forward Cho Gue-sung, 28, who plays for FC Midtjylland, has found the net for the first time in three competitive matches.
Cho scored the opening goal in the first half of Midtjylland's 3-2 home victory over Lyngby BK in the 12th round of the 2026–27 Danish Superliga at MCH Arena in Herning, Denmark, on Oct. 25 (local time).
Midtjylland extended its unbeaten start to the league season to 12 matches, with eight wins and four draws, including three consecutive victories. With 28 points, the club moved provisionally to the top of the 12-team standings, overtaking FC Copenhagen, which has 25 points and a game in hand.
Starting as the central striker, Cho broke the deadlock in the 17th minute. After a pass from teammate Kjell Wätjen on the left side of the opposition penalty area deflected off a defender and fell to him on the left side of the six-yard box, Cho fired a powerful left-footed shot on the turn into the net.
The goal marked Cho's first in three competitive matches since scoring the equalizer in a 1-1 draw against Albania's Egnatia on Oct. 16 in the opening league-phase match of the 2026–27 UEFA Conference League. It was his second league goal and fifth goal in all competitions this season.
Midtjylland led 2-1 at halftime before extending its advantage to 3-1 through Friday Etim's goal three minutes into the second half. Cho was substituted in the 59th minute after playing 59 minutes. Although Lyngby's Gustav Fraulo pulled a goal back in the 89th minute, Midtjylland held on for the victory.
Meanwhile, Cho's South Korean teammate Hong Hyun-seok, 27, came on in the 73rd minute and played until the final whistle but did not register a goal or an assist.
