JYP Entertainment China apologized for nationality controversy and TWICE's Tzuyu released official apology video.

On January 14, JYP China released an official apology on its official Weibo, stating, "We are sorry for causing troubles. Tzuyu supports and respects China's principles. Taiwan is Tzuyu's homeland, and she can't break off her relations with Taiwan. But she being a Taiwanese doesn't mean that she is a fighter for independence. Tzuyu has not made any statement about independence, and the rumors that Tzuyu supports Taiwan's independence is not true."

JYP added, "The company apologizes to the Chinese fans who were hurt. We will take such incident more seriously and try our best to avoid such things to happen."

On the same day, Tzuyu uploaded a video of apology on JYP's official YouTube channel.

In the video, Tzuyu apologizes, saying she should've done so earlier. She declares that China is one, Taiwan is part of China, and that she is proud to be a Chinese citizen.
